Bible Study

Live a Better Story.

At Downtown East Community Church, we're all about building

community and creating authentic relationships with each other and with Jesus.

Our adult Bible Study takes a Jesus-driven and people-focussed approach to small group ministry.

Each month, our group follows the curriculum from Live a Better Story that leads us through lessons and allows us to reflect on our own faith stories and life experiences.

Current Series: Now & Later

We are currently following a five-week Bible Study series called Now & Later.

This series looks at how we can use wisdom in the decisions we make now that will give us the outcome we want later. Following the book of Proverbs, we'll be learning about what we can do today to better our tomorrow.

Week 1: Video

'Wisdom Now Can Help You Miss Mistakes Later'

Week 1: Questions

Consider the following questions, or chat through them with a friend.

1. Have you ever made a decision that you wish you could redo?
2. Have you ever had a situation where the right and wrong things weren’t totally clear? What was that like?
3. If you had the opportunity to press rewind, to undo, or to fix one bad decision, what would you do?
4. How do you process decisions that aren’t explicitly choosing between right and wrong?
5. How would you define the word wisdom?
6. Who do you know in your life that is wise? What is it about them that makes you say that?
7. What do trusting God and wisdom have to do with each other?
8. What is one situation in your life right now where the wise thing for you to do is to trust God?

Week 2: Video

'A Good Reputation is Good for you now and Good for you Later'

Week 2: Questions

Consider the following questions, or chat through them with a friend.

1. How do you define the word reputation?

2. In three words or less, describe what you think your reputation is.

3. How much of our reputation is under our control? Are there any parts of it that are out of our control?

4. How does it make you feel to know that you can’t completely control what other people think about you?

5. Read Proverbs 22:1. Why do you think the author values “a good name” so highly?

6. What does it look like to build a good reputation? And how do you protect one?

7. Are there some adjustments you can begin making to create a better reputation?
